The meeting was a great success! We laid out a large double oval of track and everyone placed something around it. There were 4 tables of MOCs on display in addition to the train layout.
We had a RoboLab presentation (given by Randy Hoskin) on Saturday. Randy gave us an introduction to the program and using it to program LEGO robotics. Danny Diaz was there on Sunday to answer questions that parents had about RoboLab. National Instruments sponsors a volunteer program in local schools, which teaches kids of all ages about building robots out of LEGO and programming them using RoboLab. Currently NI has 80 volunteers working with schools, and for the first time, homeschool groups are involved as well. We also had door prize drawings! Many thanks to Betty Justus, the Dallas Pitsco DACTA representative, for sponsoring the prizes. Unfortunatly Betty could not make it to the meeting, but she sent us some very nice sets. Thanks Betty! On Sunday we held an open house and shared our creations with many others. Special thanks to Laura Hayden for getting the meeting place at NI, organizing the presentations, getting the word out, and contributing significantly to the layout with her many creations. You did a wonderful job! Thanks! We will try to make the fall meeting at NI be an annual TEXLUG / RoboLab joint event, to bring AFOLs and kids together. The enthusiasm coming from both directions feeds everyone's souls! Attendees:
TJ Avery
* National Instruments Employee
** Margaret came by on Saturday for moral support and to meet the group, but couldn't bring any MOCs (this time).
